Jailer: Rajinikanth's Blockbuster Smashes Records with $15.75 Million Overseas Debut

Over a crazy four-day weekend abroad, "Jailer" made a whopping USD 15.75 million. This Rajinikanth-starring film not only had the biggest overseas debut for a Tamil movie but also ranks fourth among all Indian films, leaving behind hits like "KGF 2," "Padmaavat," and "Dhoom 3." Only "Pathaan," "Baahubali 2," and "RRR" are ahead, with "Jailer" surpassing "RRR" outside the US.

In just four days, "Jailer" collected around Rs. 292 crores globally, becoming Rajinikanth's second-highest-grossing film in this short span, beating out "Enthiran" and "Kabali." It's expected to cross Rs. 300 crores today and hit Rs. 400 crores in its first week.

The movie performed exceptionally well in various markets, like Australia, Singapore, France, and Canada. But the standout regions were the Middle East, Malaysia, and North America.

In the Middle East, "Jailer" earned USD 4.50 million in four days, making it the fourth biggest opener after "Pathaan," "Baahubali 2," and "Sultan." Surprisingly, in Qatar, it even outsold "Pathaan." In Malaysia, it broke the record for first-weekend earnings from Indian films, with an estimated RM 10 million in four days.
